Happy 6 years to us!

Image
It's been six sweet years that we have been married! Lilleigh and I had a little cupcake date to Sprinkles on Friday afternoon before our Sunday anniversary. We went to grab an anniversary cupcake, though of course she and I shared a cupcake too. She was busy eating. A strawberry cupcake to remember our wedding, where we had strawberry cupcakes! Since hubs made me throw away our actual wedding cake last year (yep, saved it 5 years), a cupcake was completely necessary! We celebrated by going to the Melting Pot while our sweet friend Audrey babysat Lilleigh. It was all delicious, but naturally, the dessert was the best part! Brownies, angel food cake, apples, and more dipped in bananas foster chocolate! Yum! Note to photographers - Always take photos a little above the subjects, not below... oh well! As always, I made Brendon a Shutterfly book of our year, and he made me a video! Love it. Next year though he really must get someone else to film, so he can be i...

Our Anniversary Video!

I almost forgot to share the anniversary video Brendon made me! How sweet is this?? Home Movies: Summer Afternoon from James Lankford on Vimeo . PS Every year I make Brendon a photo book for our anniversary as a recap of the year. And a new tradition started this year is that Brendon will make a video for me for our anniversary, recapping the year. This one obvi isn't a recap, but still so sweet!

5 Years and Weaning

On Saturday Brendon and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary !! Val was so thoughtful to come up and babysit Lil for the day (such a chore for a grandparent, I know) so that B and I could have date day! We enjoyed being able to sleep in, grab Starbucks and walk in the park with Sammy (like old times), run a couple errands together, grab free cupcakes from Sprinkles , and enjoy dinner at our favorite restaurant in downtown McKinney . I did make us have a bite of our original wedding cake one last time. My friend's parents still (after 30-something years!) have a bite of their cake at every anniversary, and I thought that was super cute and wanted to do that too. But Brendon thinks it's weird! Ha. And he does not like to participate. He does though, begrudgingly. But I figured after 5 years, it might be time to throw it out! And since Val was here this weekend, I took the opportunity to wean Lil. I had been planning to do it sometime this month because we have a fam reu...

Our Story: The Continuation

Image
If you missed it, see the story of how we met here . As it turns out Brendon had just transferred to my high school from a private school. He was good friends with a lot of the people I hung out with already. So we began hanging out a lot in group settings and quickly became good friends. Here we are at Young Life camp (Windy Gap). It was western night, which sorta explains the drawn on goatee. Throughout the next two and half years of high school, he pursued me. And of course, I was always dating someone else. Senior year he asked me to both homecoming and prom, and since my boyfriend at the time was in college, I gladly accepted! I thought it would be fun to go to prom with a good friend. Now I think it's fun that I went with my future husband! But not to jump ahead. Prom! Check out Brendon's shaggy hair and my chubby cheeks! And don't mind the fact that I took a picture of these pictures in order to share them with you... finding the DVD they're on and...

Our Story: How We Met

July 7th will be Brendon's and my 4 year anniversary! And it occurred to me that in all the time I've had this blog, I've never shared how we met - our story! So here it is. Our Story I clearly remember standing at the back of the student section at on of our high school football games, where I was looking for a friend. That's when a guy on crutches came up and started talking to me. I was polite and entertained a conversation with him. But soon this guy became too chatty, and I really just wanted to find my friend. So I started to make a look. (If you know me in real life, you know that I am terrible and hiding how I feel. My face says it all.) It was a look that said, Okay, I'm done talking to you. Why are you still talking to me? And who are you anyway? Like I said, my face said it all. The guy quickly picked up on this and said, "I'm Brendon. I'm in your math class." Feeling sorry for the guy, but certain he didn't know what he was t...

Confession

Image
I have a confession to make. This is our wedding cake from three years ago. I saved it. Still. Here's my reasoning... My friend Amanda's parents STILL have their saved. (After at least 28 years... just a rough estimate.) And every year they all - kids too! - have a bite of it on her parents' anniversary. I thought that was so sweet and cute. I want to do that too! And as long as it's frozen, it will last! Hubby thinks the idea is gross. (But don't be fooled - it still tastes yummy.) I think it's cute and sweet. I now open this up to you... risky, I know. What are your thoughts?

Happy Three Years!

Today hubby and I are celebrating three years of marriage! I don't even know what to say, except that I am so thankful to have my best friend as my husband. I can't imagine facing some of the trials and sorrows that have come our way without him. And the joys wouldn't be the same either. Thanks, B, for always being there. I love you! Happy three year anniversary!
